What is chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a health care discipline which emphasizes the inherent recuperative power of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery.

The practice of chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure (primarily the spine) and function (as coordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of the body’s normal (homeostatic) state of health.

What is a chiropractic adjustment?

The key to chiropractic care is the spinal adjustment. This is the way doctors of chiropractic correct subluxations.

To adjust you, Dr May will use a variety of gentle manual techniques to restore normal spinal motion and function. Adjustments can also help correct problems with any other joint in the body, such as the hips, knees, ankles, elbows and wrists.

What is a subluxation?

Subluxations are spinal segments that have lost their normal motion and alignment. This then interferes with normal nerve transmission and therefore compromises both spinal and body function.

Do I need chiropractic care?

Only if you want to be healthy and live an active and vibrant life.

How long will I have to go for chiropractic care?

It depends on the problem, the mechanism of injury, underlying pre-existing conditions, the severity and how long you have had it. Healing and health are processes and trends over time.

Sadly, for most people, pain tends to be the only factor that motivates them to pay attention to their body. The healthiest people know that the best time to pay attention to your health is when you are well.

Ultimately, how long you undergo chiropractic care is up to you. But the real question is: how long do you want to be healthy?

You do not have to be sick, or in pain, to have a healthy intervention.

To maintain optimal health, in addition to other important lifestyle habits, one should get adjusted once to twice a month

What is Health Coaching?

We live in a contradictory world, where the scientific evidence is convincing but the corporate influence (advertising, product placement, lobbying, etc.) is overwhelming. Deciphering what you need to do to be healthy can be confusing, disheartening and disabling.

My goal as a health coach is to give you accurate information on health…to teach you what to change, how to change it and convince you that you can do it. Even Tiger Woods, the best of the best, has a coach. You need a health coach to keep you focused and motivated to improve and maintain the most important aspect of your life, your health.

Is health coaching separate from chiropractic?

I only coach patients who are interested. I coach them during their chiropractic visits. It is my goal to help my patients maximize their health. My greatest success rests in patients who change their lives for the better by reclaiming, and then maximizing, their health.

How much will it cost?

There is no charge for health coaching in conjunction with chiropractic care.

However, good health, like any other worthy goal in your life, requires a consistent investment of your time, effort and money. I will make recommendations for some things that you need to do, to get, or buy to achieve optimal health.

What can I expect in terms of my health?

Improved health is always possible and improved health is its own reward.
